Learnest.xyz‘ is a startup specializing in posters and textbooks for smart kids of all ages to learn the things they might not have been taught in regular classes. I was tasked with researching ‘groundbreakers’ in the evolution of a variety of fields, both curating the selections for each poster and writing 500-1000 word summaries of the history of each field. My main focus in writing these was on tone, striking the delicate balance between a trustworthy bookishness and an approachable readability.

Ye Gods!

An exciting, story-driven brand for a mundane product, dedicated to crafting myth from everyday items (in this case shoelaces, ear plugs and hairpins).

Hackney

There are a lot of ways to imply diversity in graphic design – a lot are variations on the “how many races can we fit in this picture” technique. I tried to reflect the diversity of London’s Borough of Hackney in a different way, drawing on a rough, interconnected visual language to create something friendly and joyful.

Master of Suspense

For a fictional film festival at the BFI, I aimed to capture Alfred Hitchcock’s atmosphere of discomfort and tension. By combining his imposing and crooked sensibility with dark humor, I used stills from his films to create a scrapbook-like, fractured visual language.

The Flame

Cover art for the NY/Philly-based duo The Gender Gnomes and their single ‘The Flame’, including an announcement GIF.

Confusion Fusion

Confusion Fusion, a fictional multimedia festival (whose name I was not allowed to change), is essentially ‘Burning Man on Ice’ set in the remote isolation of Alaska. My goal was to capture the serene solitude and exhilarating spontaneity inherent to the blending of a fragile and barren landscape with the vibrant energy of a festival.

Basic Rickstinct

Oh, don’t look at me like that. Like you didn’t write a Rick and Morty spec script in 2017. Everyone was doing it. Anyway, you can click the image below if you want to read it; it’s way too long, and the main story is kinda meh, but I stand by that sub-plot with Jerry.

Say, whatever happened to that show, anyh- Oh. Oh no.

Stay Mindful

An advertisement for The British Mindfulness Institute.

Dream

Look. Is this a little cringe? Yes. Is it exactly the kind of thing you would expect me to make in my freshman year art class? Yes. But… you know. Whatever. I still like it.

Aesthetically, at least.

Shuddup.

No, you’re defensive.

AWOL Magazine

This magazine and spread were created for a student brief, whose objective was the creation of a publication for adventurous tourists, looking for the backstreet, clandestine areas of tourism. I’m a big Monty Python fan (if you hadn’t noticed from my bio picture), and Terry Gilliam was always a big fan of putting classical figures in places they didn’t belong, which inspired the cover.
