a dramaturgical document
that isn’t so dreadfully dull

The Great Gatsby is perhaps my favorite novel in the English language. It’s gotten a bad reputation as “that book every high school English class has to read“, but there’s a reason for that: it’s brilliant, cover to cover.

So you can imagine I was only too happy to be the dramaturg for Theater Movement Bazaar’s dynamic adaptation of the novel at CalArts. Since dramaturgy can often be so dry and uninviting, I wanted to make sure that the document was easy to get around, and fun to read for cast and creatives alike.
